How to Make Insect Slime for Toddlers

Here’s how to make your very own bug slime! Grab your insect slime ingredients down below and whip it up for your kids.

Directions

Pour the glue into the mixing bowl.

Add the baking soda and stir well until combined.

Pour in the contact solution and stir until the slime becomes stretchy.

Your slime will feel sticky at first and it will seem like there’s too much contact solution. However, keep kneading the slime and it will get to the desired consistency! I did not have to add any extra solution to this recipe, so you shouldn’t either!

Once the slime is at the desired consistency, it’s ready!

Tips and Tricks

  • Use a plastic mat for play time to help with keeping your slime all in one place.
  • Store the slime in an airtight container or a jar when you are finished.
  • Make sure to have your toddlers wash their hands before playing with the slime so that it can last a long time!
  • For a fun experience, see if you can hide the insects in the slime and have your child squeeze and search to find all the bugs!
  • If your child is afraid of bugs, this is a great sensory play activity to help teach about bugs that don’t harm us.

  • 1 (6oz.)  bottle of green glitter glue 
  • ½ tbsp. Baking soda
  • 1 tbsp. Contact solution
  • Insect toys

Instructions

    3. Pour in the contact solution and stir until the slime becomes stretchy. Your slime will feel sticky at first and it will seem like there’s too much contact solution.
