DIY Handprint Butterfly Craft

Just follow these simple steps to create your own fluttering masterpiece together:

- Craft glue

Instructions: How To Make Handprint Butterfly Craft
1. Trace and Cut Out Handprints
Select at least 3 different colored craft papers. But the more colors you use for this craft, the prettier the butterfly would turn out!
Help your toddler place their hand on the paper, fingers spread wide, and trace around the craft papers using a pencil. You’ll need four handprints Once traced, cut out the handprints using a pair of scissors.
If you are using a template; prepare the template patterns and trace them on the selected
colored craft papers using a pencil. Cut out the traced patterns using a pair of scissors. The
template includes handprints as the wings for the butterfly, but you can use your own child’s hand.
2. Create the Butterfly’s Body
Use the template to trace and cut out the oval and strips for the body using the colors you chose.
The size should be proportionate to the handprint wings. Cut out a small round shape to serve as the butterfly’s head.
3. Create the Antennae
Cut two small pieces of pipe cleaner and bend them into an antenna shape. Alternatively, you can draw the antennae with a marker.
4. Assemble the Butterfly
Take the body cutout and the small strips. Glue the strips on the body base, horizontally.
Then take the head and the antenna cutouts. Glue the antenna cutouts to the back of the butterfly’s head.
Glue the head cutout on the top side of the body base pattern.
Lay 2 handprints on the table with the fingers pointing outward, overlapping them slightly at the palms.
Glue the butterfly body in the center where the palms of the handprints meet.
Take 2 handprint cutouts and join them on both sides of the body base pattern, below
the other handprint wings.
5. Add Details
Let your toddler use markers or crayons to draw a happy face on the butterfly’s body. If you have googly eyes, glue them on for a fun, googly effect.
Cut out some small round and teardrop shape cutouts from colored craft papers different than the wings. Glue the small paper cutouts on the wings to decorate them.
6. Personal Touches:
