DIY Grinch Sensory Bottle
Make a glittery green DIY Grinch sensory bottle to celebrate love, kindness, and all things Grinchy during the holiday season.
Is “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” one of your family’s favorite Christmas movies? We watch it every single year, all the time. It is my kids’ favorite movie! My curious toddlers love making green crafts to go along with the movie.
But this time, instead of making the craft with my kids, I made one for them. I surprised them with this Grinch sensory bottle!
It was such a success, I had to share it with you!

DIY Grinch Sensory Bottle Steps
There are only three simple steps to making the glittery sensory bottle for toddlers.
- Add The Glitter And Sprinkles
First, pour the green and silver glitter, one color at a time, into the bottom of the sensory bottle.
Then, add the Grinch resin sprinkles and heart foil glitter to your liking.
- Add Water and Glue
Next, carefully fill up the bottle with water until it is ¾ full. Add enough clear glue into it is almost completely full, but leave a little room at the top.
- Seal and Play!
Finally, it’s time to play. Seal it with a lid. You might even want to glue it shut. Then, give it a shake and watch the glitter move around.

Mindful Moments With the Grinch Bottle
When I gave this bottle to my toddlers, they sat so quietly just watching the glitter move. That stillness doesn’t happen often around here.
But it reminded me how important those slow moments are, for both of us.
Sometimes I’ll pull out the bottle when the house feels loud or when tempers start to rise. We sit together, take deep breaths, and watch the “Grinch glitter” fall to the bottom.
It’s a calm-down moment disguised as play, and it always helps reset the energy in our home. It is so important especially during the holiday season!

How To Make The Sensory Bottle Educational
There’s nothing wrong with reserving the sensory bottle for those special occasions when you really need your child to calm down. It’s a fantastic tool for quiet play.
But it’s also ok to use them for educational teaching moments, too.
Here are a few of my favorite things about sensory bottles:
- Teaches Storytelling. As you see the hearts and sprinkles float, retell your favorite parts of the movie together.
- Early Reading. Let them hold the sensory bottle and read the book with you.
- Gross Motor Skills. Holding and shaking the bottle is strengthening those gripping gross motor skills.
- Name the colors. As your child sees the different colors of the glitter and sprinkles, ask them to name them.
- Meaning behind the movie: A simple way to bring emotional awareness into play. Remind little ones that their own hearts can feel big feelings too, and that kindness always helps them shine brighter.

FAQs
How do you seal a sensory bottle so my toddler won’t open it?
You could carefully add super glue to the rim of the bottle. This will do the trick permanently.
Can I make a sensory bottle with repurposed materials?
Making a sensory bottle doesn’t have to be expensive. Use recycled plastic drink bottles for toddlers or glass Ball canning jars for older children. Just make sure you seal it so the lid doesn’t come off.
